The pandemic has transformed how people communicate and interact, but the focus has primarily been on the development & use of online tools that prioritize efficiency.
How might we create experiences that augment celebrations, bring joy, and make it accessible to share meaningful moments?
There are three filters designed for this monumental event. One focuses on bringing the commencement speech with you through sculptural typography. The next filter is more playful and targeted towards the graduates to decorate their caps. the last on is unboxing the scotty gift with a suprise!
Many commencement speeches leave a lasting impression as parts become quotes that live on throughout time. The speakers aim to inspire & commemorate the graduates. their personal connections with the University often play a large role in delivering words that carry a lot of weight.

CMU restricted in-person attendance of the ceremony to only students due to covid. Graduates unable to attend in person and those from CMU's global campuses, as well as families, friends and members of the community, were able to watch through a live stream.
